Call for APOS 2016 Award Nominations

The American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS) will be celebrating 30 years of psychosocial oncology at the 13th Annual APOS Conference, to be held March 3 to 5, 2016, in San Diego. Colleagues, mentors, students, and others who have made an impact on psychosocial oncology can be nominated for an APOS 2016 Award.

The deadline for submitting APOS award nominations is October 15, 2015, and the awards will be presented at the annual conference in March. For detailed information on each award, including eligibility criteria and past recipients, and to download a nomination form, please see the APOS awards Web page.

APOS is accepting nominations for the following awards:

  • Holland Distinguished Leadership Award honors a psychosocial oncology community member who has made an outstanding contribution to the field in practice, education, research, and leadership.
  • Distinguished Public Service Award is presented to a psychosocial oncology community leader in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of psychosocial oncology at the national level.
  • Outstanding Clinical Care Award is presented to a clinician in recognition of outstanding clinical contributions to the field of psychosocial oncology (nominees must be licensed and actively practicing in the field of psychosocial oncology for a minimum of 5 years).
  • Outstanding Training and Education Award is presented to a leader who has enhanced the field of psychosocial oncology through the education and training of new investigators and clinicians.
  • New Investigator Award is presented to an APOS member for his or her research contributions (nominees must be APOS members within 5 years of completing their highest level of training—eg, graduate training, medical or postdoctoral fellowship, or equivalent specialist training).
