Two Oncology Leaders Elected Members of ASCO Nominating Committee

ASCO recently announced election of Lisa A. Carey, MD, and Primo N. Lara, Jr, MD, to serve a 3-year term on the ASCO Nominating Committee beginning in 2016 (see pages 101-102 for news on other ASCO elections).

Lisa A. Carey, MD, is Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology and Physician-in-Chief of the North Carolina Cancer Hospital. She is the Jacobs Preyer Distinguished Professor in Breast Cancer Research and Associate Director for Clinical Research at the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Carey joined ASCO in 1997 and has served as Subcommittee Chair of the Professional Development Committee and Track Leader of the Cancer Education Committee, as well as a member of the Breast Cancer Consensus Panel and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology. She will serve as the Chair of the Nominating Committee in 2017–2018.

Primo N. Lara, Jr, MD, is Professor of Medicine at the University of California (UC) Davis School of Medicine and Associate Director for Translational Research at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Since joining ASCO in 1997, he has served on the Cancer Education Committee, including as Chair of its Continuing Medical Education Subcommittee and as Genitourinary Cancers track leader, and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Northern California Oncologists, an ASCO State Affiliate Society. ■
