THE U.S. DEPARTMENT of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program has awarded a grant of more than $900,000 to Weill Cornell Medicine, in collaboration with Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian to conduct prostate cancer clinical trials.

The Prostate Cancer Research Program Clinical Consortium Award supports researchers in identifying early-stage aggressive prostate cancer, developing therapies that prevent the cancer from progressing, understanding and finding treatments for metastatic disease, as well as developing ways to improve the physical and mental health of affected patients. With funding, researchers will be able to conduct phase I and II clinical trials with the goal of making new treatments available. Another aim of program is to address disparities in disease incidence and mortality among racial and ethnic groups. ■
