R. LOR RANDALL, MD, FACS, a sarcoma surgeon and scientist, has been appointed Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the David Linn Endowed Chair in Orthopaedic Surgery at University of California (UC) Davis Health. In his new role, Dr. Randall leads 70 UC Davis surgeons, physicians, researchers, and trainees who provide specialty care for musculoskeletal injuries and disease.

Dr. Randall built a team that developed a genetically engineered mouse that researchers worldwide have used to study the molecular mechanisms of sarcomas. He also created the Sarcoma Advanced Research and Clinical Fellowship, an after clinical training opportunity that he brought to UC Davis.

“Dr. Randall is a proven collaborator and leader who will further enhance our clinical expertise and research programs to improve orthopaedic care for patients everywhere,” noted Lars Berglund, Interim Dean of the UC Davis School of Medicine.

After he obtained his medical degree from Yale University Medical School, Dr. Randall completed his fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the University of Washington Fred Hutchison Cancer Center and his residency in orthopedic surgery at UC San Francisco. ■
