WARNER K. HUH, MD, began his 1-year term as the 51st President of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) at the conclusion of the Society’s 50th Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer. Dr. Huh will preside over the 2020 SGO Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer scheduled for March 28–31, 2020, in Toronto. It will be the first SGO meeting to be held outside of the United States.

Currently, Dr. Huh is Professor and Division Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Huh has been involved in various committees and  task forces within the SGO since joining in 2003, including as Program Chair for the 2013 SGO Annual Meeting. He has been a member of the SGO Board since 2013.

Dr. Huh noted that among the challenges currently facing SGO members and the Society, he plans to focus his presidency on issues such as alternative payment models, clinical trial mentorships, subspecialty awareness, education on novel therapies in precision medicine, and the role of gynecologic oncologists in benign gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Huh received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. Then he completed an internship and residency at the New England Medical Center (now Tufts Medical Center) in Boston as well as a fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
