Suresh Ramalingam, MD
Suresh Ramalingam, MD, Deputy Director of Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and Assistant Dean for Cancer Research at the Emory School of Medicine, has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation.
Dr. Ramalingam, who is the Roberto C. Goizueta Distinguished Chair for Cancer Research, is an internationally recognized lung cancer physician-investigator. He serves as Winship’s Director of Medical Oncology and its Lung Cancer Working Group and currently co-leads Winship’s Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program. He also chairs the Thoracic Malignancies Committee and serves as Deputy Chair for the Therapeutics Program within ECOG-ACRIN, a National Cancer Institute–supported national clinical trials network group.
Dr. Ramalingam’s research focuses on the development of novel anticancer agents and ways to individualize therapies for patients with small cell and non–small cell lung cancers.
Established in 1908, the American Society for Clinical Investigation is one of the oldest and most respected medical honor societies in the United States. Physician-scientists across all medical specialties are elected to the Society for their outstanding records of scholarly achievement in biomedical research. Several hundred early-career physician-scientists are nominated every year, and up to 80 new members are selected for their significant research accomplishments. ■
